چکیده
High-speed Wireless LANs based on 802.11 technologies are becoming increasingly ubiquitous. IEEE 802.11n is the last standard toward achieving higher speeds and aims to enhance 802.11 for higher throughput. Few works studied 802.11n medium access control (MAC) layer, but unfortunately, effects of higher physical rates is sti ll unknown to the upper layers and especially routing layer of these networks. The main purpose of this paper is to assess efficiency of routing algorithms on IEEE 802.11n networks. We selected DSDV routing protocol, as one the popular algorithms, for this purpose. Based on various studies and simulations carried out, results indicate that increase in physical layer speed, does not necessarily lead to improving throughput and efficiency of the network layer. In addition, results indicate that 802.11n performs slightly better than 802.11 for large enough packet sizes; also we show the DSDV routing algorithm flaws when it

متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Energy Aware AODV Routing Protocol for IEEE 802. 15. 4 Enabled WSN
In the present scenario, wireless network is being widely used in the area where infrastructure based telecommunication system are unavailable. The mobile ad-hoc network is the infrastructure-less mobile network which has no fixed infrastructure and the nodes can be connected dynamically in an arbitrary manner. The sensor networks are incarnated from ad-hoc networks in which nodes have sensing ...
متن کاملEffectiveness of AODV Protocol under Hidden Node Environment
IEEE 802.11 is a standard for mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), implemented with various different protocols. Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector Routing (DSDV) is one of the several protocols of IEEE 802.11 intended to provide various Quality of Service (QOS) parameters under acceptable range. To avoid the collision and interference the MAC protocol has only two solutions, one, to sense the ph...
متن کاملComparative Analysis of VANET Routing Protocols Using VANET RBC and IEEE 802.11p
The Vehicular Adhoc network is the emerging research area which makes a phrase ‘Network on the wheel”. VANET is a collection of communication vehicles to broadcast desired information. In this paper performance of three routing protocols namely Adhoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing (AODV), Destination Sequence Distance Vector (DSDV) and VANET Radio Broadcasting Protocol (VANETRBC) is compared...
متن کاملEvaluating and Comparing Probability of Path Loss in DSDV, OLSR and DYMO at 802.11 and 802.11p
In this paper, we present path loss model for VANETs and simulate three routing protocols; Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) and Dynamic MANET On-demand (DYMO) to evaluate and compare their performance using NS-2. The main contribution of this work is enhancement of existing techniques to achieve high efficiency of the underlying networks. After e...
